Learning is a life time of experiences. The moment your baby is born they are learning through smell, touch, seeing and hearing.
These natural senses which your baby is born with help to define their character. Nurturing their senses is important as it builds their confidence.
Start by turning off the television and stimulate your baby/toddler’s mind by introducing them to a variety of musical instruments.
Not only will they experience harmony, melody and rhythm but through playing a musical instrument and listening to music, it will teach them hand-eye coordination.
Their concentration will improve as their focus will be on the task at hand. Allowing your baby/toddler to practice self-expression and creativity through ‘musical therapy’ may help them to communicate better later in life.
There are a variety of wooden musical toys which you can introduce to them. They may be noisy to you but know they are being creative and it is much better for them to play with a toy drum, banjo, trumpet/horn, piano and xylophone than a toy cap gun or toy machine gun.
I personally feel that toy cap guns or toy machine guns bring out aggressive and destructive behavior especially in toddlers and continues as they get older. This is certainly not a creative behavior.
Don’t you think it is better to instill in your baby/toddler peace and harmony through a world of music? I know I do!
Remember, they are our future. So let them play to their own tune. They may not be the next solo pianist or super star drum player but they will have fun trying. They love to ‘harp’ too!
