Honing (sharpening) your child’s cognitive skills is crucial. Having cognitive skills helps them to process and obtain knowledge through thinking and doing.
Developing your child’s cognitive skills is very important because it gives them the ability to learn and helps them successfully to process new information which will help them to succeed in life.
So therefore, your babies/toddlers/children need to ‘exercise’ their brain function and what a better way to do that than to introduce them to building blocks and shape sorters; the wooden type of course.
Playing with these building blocks and shape sorters will teach them hand-eye coordination and will teach them to recognize shapes and sizes. They will also learn how to problem solve which is an essential part of the ‘building blocks’ of life. Parents and grandparents join in too!
Colorful non-toxic Shape Sorters are there too.
Our Brain Function
Every part of our being needs exercise and that includes our brain. If our brain is not functioning as it should, then the rest of our body will waste away.
This is because our brain has control over every bodily function we have. Our “Cerebrum”, which is Latin for brain, is the largest part of our brain which consists of two hemispheres; a left and right.
It is where thought, perception, judgement, imagination and decision making take place. The outermost part of our “Cerebrum” is the “Cerebral Cortex”. Here is where consciousness, thought, awareness, memory, language and attention plays a major role.
The left hemisphere of our brain controls the right side of our body as the right hemisphere of our brain controls the left side of our body. Researchers have discovered that the left hemisphere of our brain is responsible for language, math and logic; where the right hemisphere of our brain is responsible for face recognition, art and music.
All the activities we perform on a daily basis, whether that be mental or physical, is controlled by different parts of our brain; even the ability to breathe and swallow. This is just a summary about our brain function. Our brains are so complex that I have only scratched the surface, so to speak.
