More parents these days are starting to realize the impact toxic chemicals are having on their children’s lives . They are exposed to toxic chemicals on a daily basis; from what they bathe in to the foods/beverages they eat/drink and the air they breathe.
So why not let your babies, toddlers and older children explore their creative side by supplying them with a chalk board, recycled paper and non-toxic chalk/paint.
Why non-toxic chalk/ paint? Well, as we all know those little “ankle biters” just love putting things in their mouths……..especially when your back is turned.
You can breathe a sigh of relief and know that you do not have to phone the “poisons” hotline after discovering the chalk/paint is nowhere to be seen and a tell tale sign that it was eaten for dessert.
Join in the fun too (don’t eat the chalk/paint though) and bring that little creative child of yours to the fore. You don’t have to be a “Pro” Hart to watch your children’s faces light up.
Fold an A4 sheet of paper in half and show them how to add splashes of color to one side and then fold the blank half on top and press down. When they unfold the paper, they will see a beautiful pattern unfold. Making hand and foot prints are a big hit too.
Use straws for bubble painting and cut designs in potatoes and use them as stamps. I’m sure there are children’s books on creative painting for the early years. Easy enough instructions for all the family.
So with all the above in mind, I have come across an online website called “Wee Can Too”. Founded by two clever U.S. mothers, they have been making children’s organic edible art supplies since 2oo7. Their product range can be purchased from abesmarket.com and Amazon.com
